27. Why should I use Delos Vacations and not just book online with one of the major travel websites?


1. Delos Vacations operates Monday thru Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm and on Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00noon. We do however, check our messages after hours and promptly return calls. [ back to top ]

2. Delos Vacations accepts American Express, Visa, and MasterCard. In addition checks and bank wire transfers are also accepted. Cash payments can be made in person at our Douglaston, New York office only. [ back to top ]

3. Delos Vacations offers online bookings for some travel services, such as rental cars, ferry boat tickets, Greek Island Journeys & sightseeing trips. All other services can be booked by contacting us and a representative will promptly get back to you. [ back to top ]

4. We at this point in time offer custom trips to the Greek Islands and we offer trips to the Caribbean with our trusted partners. [ back to top ]

5. June through September is considered the high season, however May and October are ideal months to travel to the Greek isles offering both ideal climate and limited crowds. [ back to top ]

6. Delos Vacations strongly recommends purchasing travel insurance to protect your vacation investment. Please feel free to use a travel insurance company of your choice or if you prefer we can suggest one to you. [ back to top ]

7. We never use a hotel below the Deluxe Category Level. All of the properties we use in our Journeys are hand selected due to quality, service and personal relationships to insure the satisfaction of our customer. [ back to top ]

8. Our Vacations to Greece do not include international airfare, however we can book your airfare if you require assistance. Our Vacations to the Caribbean generally include airfare but it is not mandatory. In this day & age of modern travel we feel that you should decide how best to handle this decision. [ back to top ]

9. Your valid U.S. license will be accepted as long as you carry an international drivers license as well. The American Automobile Association (AAA) offers this service and a license can be obtained through the mail. Click here for an application. [ back to top ]

10. Greece uses a GSM network and if your cell phone is compatible you should be able to use your mobile phone while in Greece. However, roaming & data charges will apply and we strongly recommend that you contact your mobile phone operator prior to departing on your trip to discuss both service & rates, which can be very expensive. 11. Yes you can. You will be able to find a telecommunications kiosk in Athens Airport where you can either rent or purchase a phone for the duration of your trip. [ back to top ]

13. Yes we do. You can use the custom request form on our site or visit the Greek Honeymoon Website. [ back to top ]

14. Car rentals are only required on large islands such as Crete, Rhodes & Corfu and on the mainland if you plan on touring over an extended period of time. Generally taxis or public transportation are easier & less expensive to use. [ back to top ]

15. We strongly recommend that you rent such a vehicle only if you are experienced. The Greek Island Roads can be precarious, especially after sunset. [ back to top ]

16. US Citizens are not required to apply for a visit when visiting Greece unless they plan on staying in excess of (3) months. All other nationals should check with the Greek Embassy or their consulate. [ back to top ]

19. It’s recommended that you limit your Greek Island choices so that you can truly enjoy your trip instead of trying to see too many making you feel like you are on the run through out your stay. [ back to top ]

20. It all depends on whom you ask and what your likes/dislikes are. Santorini & Mykonos are the world famous islands, but there are other literally hundreds of other choices to select from. Research your trip starting here. [ back to top ]

21. Cruising offers both the most cost and time efficient manner to visit the Greek Islands, however you will not truly get a chance to stay on one particular island for an extended period of time so it is recommended to build a 3, 4 or 7 day cruise into a land Greek Island hopping trip to get the best of both worlds. 22. Athens once upon a time was a city not cared for by many tourists, but today it is a vibrant metropolis with a modern infrastructure. Athens is a vibrant city worth experiencing for its beauty, culture, nightlife & history for at least one or two nights during your Greece stay. Incorporating Athens into your trip is ideally accomplished either the day of arrival or on your last day in Greece. [ back to top ]

23. Yes you can and you should if you have the time to do so. Many of the Greek Islands offer great ferryboat service to parts of Turkey and Athens has multiple daily flights to Istanbul. Delos Vacations can incorporate Turkey into a Delos Signature Journey upon request. [ back to top ]

24. Yes the world has changed and we must all take precautions when traveling the globe. Both the Caribbean & the Greek Islands can present danger as can any other destination in the world, however they are both relatively safe regions of the world to visit. A good place to start before any trip is the US State Departments website where you can study a destination before your depart, register for alerts via email or SMS and register your trip so in the event of an emergency you can be located. 25. Your GPS will function on the Greek Islands automatically as long as your device has the maps of Greece & the Greek Islands already loaded. [ back to top ]

26. Dollars are can be accepted however, it is best to always convert your US Dollars to the local currency to avoid being ripped off or hassled by a merchant. It is recommended that you convert currency at a local bank or withdraw funds from a bank ATM. Credit cards are also widely accepted in major tourist areas, however cash is always king. 27. Major travel websites are pretty amazing but not amazing enough to understand you, the culture of a destination and don’t have the capacity to deal with problems should they arise with a human touch.
